Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested three alleged militant associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Around 6:15pm Friday, a joint team of police and army’s 44 RR laid a naka at Khudpora orchards and observed the movement of 3 suspects who were challenged to stop, a police spokesperson said. Instead of stopping, he said, the trio started fleeing away from the spot but were chased and arrested tactfully by the alert joint party.
The spokesperson identified them as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, Nadeem Rafiq Rather and Rouf Mushtaq Najar.
He said that incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 1 Pistol, 1 magazine, 8 rounds, 1 hand grenade, 1 AK magazine, 20 AK rounds were recovered from their possession.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 19/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Shopian and further investigation into the matter is in progress,” the spokesperson added.
