Srinagar- A policeman was injured on Friday in a grenade attack in Khawaja Bazar locality in the Old City of Nowhatta.
The policeman identified as Ashiq Hussain sustained minor splinter injuries on Friday afternoon when suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade towards a joint team of police and CRPF in Khawaja Bazar locality of Nowhatta here, police said. Three shops also suffered damages in the grenade explosion.
A senior police officer said that the injured policeman is completely stable and was discharged soon after the first aid. He said that the entire area was immediately cordoned off to nab the attackers.
However when this report was filed no arrest had been made.
According to reports, the grenade blast triggered panic in the busy marketplace and prompted some of the traders to down their shutters.
