Srinagar- Locals from Safa Kadal area of Srinagar city Saturday said that they are witnessing mobile internet shutdown on a daily basis from 3 pm onwards for the past four months.
The locals, mostly students, told the news agency that this unannounced outage has badly hit their studies.
“Internet service gets off at 3 every day and then is restored after 9 in the evening. We have been facing this problem for the last 4 months,” a group of students said.
Pertinently, in the recent past, several areas of Srinagar city witnessed unannounced, unofficial, and sudden internet shutdowns. After the repeated appeals from academics, entrepreneurs, and journalists, the practice to snap internet service was stopped, however, as per locals, Safa Kadal locality still faces the same problem.
“We brought the issue into the notice of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, who informed us that there are no such directives from the administration to snap internet service in any part of Srinagar city. He said it might be some technical problem,” the locals said.
The locals appealed to telecom service providers to look into the matter. (KNT)
