SRINAGAR – Hijacking of an Ambassador car belonging to State Motor Garages this afternoon has sent a wave of apprehension through police and various security agencies who fear that it might be used in a Fidayeen strike.
According to a NAFA report unidentified militants in a stolen Ambassador car (JK01 1199) gunned down one Tariq Ahmad, allegedly a police informer hailing from Handwara, in Nowpora locality of the city at noon today The gunmen later abandoned the car at Fateh Kadal and hijacked a State Motor Garages Ambassador (JK02 M 3721) from the area, the report quoting police sources said. The incident prompted police and other security agencies to sound an alert for the vehicle. The police and intelligence agencies the report said remained clueless till late Wednesday despite widespread checking of vehicles.
