Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir reported on Tuesday 6570 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus, the highest ever spike since the outbreak of pandemic in 2020, while fourteen people succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, Kashmir Valley witnessed a record 5015 new cases of Covid-19, while1555 were registered from various districts of Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected by virus in J&K to 409166.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 1450 new cases of virus, Budgam 971, Kulgam 697, Anantnag 416, Baramulla 396, Kupwara 395, Ganderbal 295, Bandipora 243, Pulwama 107. South Kashmir’s Shopian was the only district in the Valley to record two digit figures with 45 new cases.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu detected a maximum of 849 new cases of Coronavirus, Udhampur 121, Doda 114, Samba 112, Rajouri 100, Poonch 82, Kathua 81, Reasi 43, Ramban 41 and Kishtwar 12.
“Moreover, 3789 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 1278from Jammu Division and2511 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
Also, they said that fourteen more people, seven each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions died of Covid-19 related complications during the last 24 hours taking the death toll in pandemic to 4627 in J&K—2260 in Jammu division and 2367 in Kashmir Valley.
The officials further added that new cases of Mucormycosis were reported Tuesday, thus the total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.
