Srinagar- A hut was gutted at ski resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla in a massive blaze leaving the entire structure into ashes.
The hut belonging to Hotel Highland was fully damaged in the fire which broke out at around 1:00 AM on Saturday night.
Manager of the Hotel Highland, Mohammad Asadullah told Kashmir Observer that the cause of the fire apparently looks short-circuit.
He said some tourists had booked a room inside the hut and they managed to rescue them before the blaze engulfed the whole structure.
“Since the structure was wooden, the fire spread fustily and turned the whole hut into ashes within 30 minutes,” Asadullah told Kashmir Observer.
He further said that even the fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire immediately but could’t save the structure.
“The property is worth crores. It’s a huge loss,” he added.
The famous Hotel Highland has hosted many top political and Bollywood figures. It was constructed in 1965. The hotel has six huts—all made in wood.
