COVID-19 is knocking everyone’s door this time. When it enters, it spares no one. However, it seems like this unwanted guest is not as lethal as before. Kashmir is witnessing single day spikes like never before. This kind of unprecedented spike in cases wasn’t even seen during the deadly second wave.
However, much to the surprise of many, this wave seems to be mild owing to the variant in action only affecting the upper respiratory tract of those infected. The symptoms seem “mild” for healthy vaccinated individuals. These include body aches, chills, fever and cough.
Some doctors have gone on to say that Omicron is good news. This may be an overestimation of the positives of this wave, however, there is some reason to believe that the pandemic might soon demote to the endemic status.
It also seems that high vaccination rates are responsible for the milder wave. Thankfully, booster doses for those above the age of 60 and healthcare workers are now available. The CAB still works.
We just need to be alert and cautious. Hopefully, the worse seems to be over.
