Srinagar- Unidentified militants on Wednesday attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) picket in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
According to reports, unknown militants fired upon the bunker of CRPF 40 battalion near FM Gali on KP road in the south Kashmir Township. However, no injuries were reported in the incident.
A local news agency quoted an unnamed CRPF officer as saying that militants fired 3-4 bullets towards the bunker before fleeing from the spot.
The officer also said that searches have been launched to nab the attackers.
Pertinently, militants on Tuesday triggered off a low-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Qaimoh area of the neighbouring Kulgam district.
Prior to it, militants carried out two attacks in Srinagar’s Saraf Kadal and Batamaloo areas on Sunday and Monday. A civilian and a policeman were injured in Sunday’s grenade attack in the Old City here.
The spurt in militant attacks barely a week ahead of R-Day celebrations has prompted the government forces to intensify security arrangements across the Valley.
