Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir continues to see a spike in daily coronavirus cases as nearly 200 people on Tuesday tested positive for the deadly infection while no fresh fatality was reported in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, 109 cases of novel coronavirus were reported from Kashmir Valley on Tuesday while the remaining 90 from various districts of Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K to 342001.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 62 new cases of virus, Budgam 14, Kupwara 8, Anantnag, Bandipora and Ganderbal 5 each, Pulwama 4, and three each in Baramulla and Kulgam. Shopian was the only district in the Valley where no fresh cases of virus were detected.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu registered a maximum of 58 fresh cases of coronavirus, Poonch 9, Kathua 7, Ramban 4 and three each in Udhampur, Rajouri and Doda, Samba 2 and Kishtwar 1 new case of Covid-19. No cases were reported from Reasi.
“Moreover, 156 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time, 38 from Jammu Division and 118 from Kashmir,” officials said.
Also, they said that the death toll due to the pandemic remains 4530 in J&K—2199 in Jammu and 2331 in Kashmir, as no coronavirus related fatality was reported from J&K during the last 24 hours.
