IF it isn’t already obvious, the Covid-19 threat is far from over. Across India, cases are increasing drastically. This will soon reflect in Kashmir as well. Omicron has taken over the globe. It isn’t obvious if it will be as devastating as the Delta Variant but vaccination is our only way to keep us safe.
While vaccination doesn’t keep one from getting Covid, it does decrease the chances of getting severe symptoms, hospitalisation and even death. Vaccination also reduces the transmissibility of the virus as well.
Maharashtra, which has seen quite an increase in the number of cases has also reassured its population that a majority of the cases are asymptomatic. This may either be because of vaccination or it may be because the omicron strain is mild.
However, we must take what we have at hand. We hope that the government considers booster vaccine shots for high risk groups which need it the most. In addition to getting vaccinated, we must also follow the 101 of covid-19 SOPs.
A mask may not always save you from getting covid-19 but it may save others from you at your public workplaces or even your family.
