Srinagar- Coronavirus cases continue to show an upwards trend as 178 more people in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday tested positive for the virus while no fresh fatality was reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, Kashmir Valley detected 108 fresh cases of novel coronavirus while the remaining 70 were reported from various districts of Jammu division, taking the number of people infected by virus in the UT to 341802.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 57 new cases of virus, Baramulla 14, Budgam 11, Ganderbal 8, Pulwama 5, Anantnag and Kulgam 4 each, two each in Bandipora and Kupwara and one fresh case in Shopian.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 46 new cases of infection, Udhampur 6, Reasi 5, Samba and Ramban 4 each, two each in Doda and Kathua 2 and one new case in Poonch. The twin districts of Rajouri and Kishtwar reported no new cases of Covid-19.
“Moreover, 109 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time, 19 from Jammu Division and 90 from Kashmir,” officials said.
Also, they said that no new Covid-19 related fatality was reported in J&K during the last 24 hours. So far, 4530 persons—2199 in Jammu and 2331 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus.
The officials also said that one new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported Monday. So far 51 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said.
