Srinagar- A policeman mowed down by a load carrier in the Rainawari area of this capital city early this month, succumbed to his injuries at the SK institute of medical sciences (SKIMS) here on Friday.
Head Constable Iftikhar Hussain, who was critically injured after being hit by a load carrier at a checkpoint near Zindshah Masjid crossing on December 13, succumbed to his injuries at the SKIMS on Friday, reports said. Hussain was undergoing treatment at the tertiary care hospital for the last ten days.
CCTV footage of the accident shows a load carrier knocking down Hussain when he was engaged in a conversation with a car driver. A woman pedestrian survived miraculously in the accident.
Meanwhile, Police have registered a case FIR number 69/2014 under relevant sections of law and arrested the driver identified as Showkat Ismail Langoo, a resident of Hassanabad.
