Says, Association will meet Lok Sabha Speaker, other MPs’ to seek mercy for three Kashmiri students booked under Sedition charges
Srinagar- J&K Students Association, a body of Kashmiri Students Monday held an annual meeting in Srinagar, where they discussed the present scenario and various issues and Problems faced by Kashmiri students outside valley.
The meeting was chaired by National President of Association Mushtaq Habeeb and was attended by all officials and coordinators of different States. On this occasion, Association took stock of problems of Kashmiri students faced outside valley.
President of Association Mushtaq Ahmad said that the aim of the meeting was to discuss the prevailing issues related to students and future plans of the Association and problems pertaining to the students outside J&K Union territory. He stressed that all the Coordinators, members and Volunteers of the Association must work cooperatively and must follow the decisions of the working body. He said that Association had always fought for the rights of the Kashmiri students and will always keep its hard efforts on to do so in the future too.
Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami speaking on the occasion said that Association will go through all the possible ways for the welfare and betterment of the students. It has been a challenging time for association but we are glad that we left no stone unturned and worked aggressively and tirelessly to solve all the problems and issues of the students across the country.
Association have prepared a list of colleges outside J&K where Kashmiri students are unnecessarily intimidated, harassed and spread bigotry & hate unnecessarily and fail to give them protection & ensure their Safety. Those trying to give political or religious colour to the local students studying in colleges outside J&K are vested interests who are damaging the fabric of country, he said.
Association will meet Lok Sabha Speaker and DGP Uttar Pradesh in coming week and will seek mercy for three kashmiri students booked under Sedition charges in Uttar Pradesh on humanitarian grounds. We will meet several other Lok sabha and Rajya Sabha MP’s as well and will urge them to intervene in withdrawing sedition case and FIR against students, he added.
Additional Spokesperson of Association Danish Lone highlighted about the impacts of the negative portrayal of kashmiri students by a section of media. The primary victims of the negative portrayal have been the students studying in various states of the country.
Meanwhile Davood Ahmad has been appointed new Vice President of Association, Younus Rashid as General Secretary, Danish Lone as Additional Spokesperson and Mehraj Ahmad as new Secretary of Association respectively. Manzoor Ahmad has been appointed coordinator of association for UP State. During the meeting future programs and events of association were also discussed.
