Srinagar: Coronavirus claimed the lives of five more people in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday while 133 fresh cases of virus were registered in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, three more people died of coronavirus related complications in the Valley and two others in Jammu division on Thursday, raising the fatality count to 4508 in J&K—2192 in Jammu and 2316 in Kashmir.
About the new cases of virus, the officials said that 102 were detected in Kashmir and the remaining 31 from various districts of the Jammu Division.
Srinagar, the officials said, continues to see a spike in new Covid-19 cases, as 48 more people tested positive for virus, while Baramulla reported 24, Budgam 9, Ganderbal 6, Kulgam 4,Pulwama, Kupwara and Bandipora 3 each and Anantnag 2 new cases of coronavirus. Shopian was the only district in the Valley where no new cases were registered.
In the winter capital, officials said Jammu reported a maximum of 19 fresh cases of virus, Poonch 5, Udhampur 3, Doda 2 and one new case each in Kathua and Kishtwar. The four districts of Samba, Ramban, Reasi and Rajouri reported no cases on Thursday.
“Moreover, 139 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time, 19 from Jammu Division and 120 from Kashmir,” the officials said.
They further said there were no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 50 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said.
