Srinagar- Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Athar Aamir on Wednesday said that strict action will be taken against street vendors who violate the law and fines will also be imposed on them.
Talking to reporters during an inspection drive of street vendors, Athar said that unauthorised space will not be provided to the street vendors in the city.
He said that the department is doing clearance of roads in a phased manner and they will check all the areas of Srinagar where street vendors are using roads illegally for their business.
“All ward officers and encroachment officers have been given clear directions in this regard. Fine will also be imposed on those who violate the orders,” he said, adding that those who do not comply with the law have to face heavy penalties.
“We have given them time to vacate the spaces occupied illegally and if they still do not follow the orders then they won’t be spared,” he added.
