Srinagar- Coronavirus cases continue to shoot up in Jammu and Kashmir as nearly 200 more people tested positive for the deadly infection on Thursday while no fresh fatality was reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, 134 fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported from Kashmir Valley and 58 from Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K to 338390.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar registered the highest 65 new cases of virus, Baramulla 24, Budgam 19, Ganderbal 10, Bandipora 7, Kupwara 5 and two cases each in Pulwama and Anantnag districts. The twin districts of Kulgam and Shopian reported no new cases of Covid-19.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 33 new cases of coronavirus, Poonch 6, Udhampur, Rajouri and Kathua 4 each, three cases each in Kishtwar and Reasi and one in Doda district. No new cases were detected in Ramban and Samba districts.
“Moreover, 135 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time, 26 from Jammu Division and 109 from Kashmir,” officials said.
Also, they said that the death toll due to pandemic remained 4489 in J&K—2189 in Jammu and 2300 in Kashmir, as no fresh fatality was reported across the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
