SRINAGAR- Parvez Rasool’s blistering 76 were not enough for J&K as the team lost to Gujarat by 5 wickets in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 being played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Sent in to bat first, J&K were 66 for the loss of 6 wickets in 19.1 overs. However a defiant partnership between Parvez Rasool 76 (77) and Aquib Nabi 27 (44) helped J&K post 171/10 in 42.1 overs. Captain Shubham Pundir 0 (11), vice captain Abdul Samad 5 (3), Ian Dev Singh 5 (10) were disappointing with the bat. For Gujarat, Chintan Gaja took 4 wickets, while Hemang Patel took 3.
With a low score to defend, J&K made a good start with Aquib Nabi removing Gujarat opener early on. Umar Nazir then made another breakthrough to reduce Gujarat to 36 for the loss of 2 wickets in 8.4 overs.
Gujarat team however held its nerve with Bargav Merai 57 (83) and Ripal Patel 33 (27) top-scoring for their team. Umar Nazir Mir was the pick of bowlers for J&K taking 2 wickets, while Aquib Nabi and Mujtaba Yousuf took 1 wicket each.
