Srinagar- Continuing with the Outreach initiative of Ministry of Finance. Govt of India, the Central GST Department in collaboration with the Income Tax Department, conducted programmes at Pulwama on 3rd December and Bandipora & Kargil on 4th December.
The initiative is aimed at reaching out to representatives of small and medium industry, business professionals, local business bodies and associations. start-ups, women entrepreneurs etc. to collect feedback on budget expectations and other aspirations. These programmes witnessed large and enthusiastic participation of the stake holders.
Vikas Kumar. Pr. Commissioner. CGST explained major aspects of GST including Registration. e-invoicing, e-way bill system. ITC etc. He also highlighted amnesty measures offered by the Govt at various times and schemes launched by the Govt for attracting new investment and employment opportunities in J&K. Re stated that rollout of GST is a giant step towards reforming taxation -system in the country as this system ensures transparency and time bound disposal of applications which is a primary requirement for ease of doing business. The GST system is going to be a major factor for boosting new start-ups and making the county Aatmnirbhar.
Daanish Inder Singh Gill, Basant Kumar and Varun Soni. Deputy Commissioners, also participated in these programmes. They encouraged the participants to come up with their suggestions and issues faced in day to day transactions related to GST. The trade associations demanded for restoration of toll post at Lakhanpur or any other measure for protection to local industry. It was also demanded that all disputes of pre-GST era be brought under some amnesty scheme.
“The participants raised their concerns regarding anticipated hike in tax rates of footwear and textiles as this may adversely affect small business entities. The grievances and demands regarding GST reforms presented by the participants were noted tier redressal.
