SRINAGAR: The J&K Under-19 cricket team on Thursday slumped to an innings and 210 runs defeat in their opening Elite Group E match of Cooch Behar Trophy 2021-22 at Kandukuri Cricket Academy, Vizag.
J&K is one of the six teams in the Group E, along with Karnataka, Mumbai, Haryana, Baroda, and Pondicherry. The Cooch Behar matches are played on a 4-day format.
Batting first J&K was bundled out for a paltry 114 in the first innings. In reply, Karnataka made a mammoth 517/4 (declared).J&K scored 193 in their second innings to cap a dismal performance. Karnataka batter Vishal Onat scored 252 not out to help his team reach the huge total.
J&K captain Mohammad Manzir was the pick of the players for J&K as he scored 68 and 41 in his two innings while also taking a wicket for his team.
J&K Playing XI: Dhruv Singh Parmar, Nityam Abrol, Ranjot Singh, Akshit Gandral, Shivansh Sharma (W), Basit Bashir, Moomin Muzaffar, Gursimran Singh, Sarvashish Singh, Mohammad Manzir (C),Yuvraj Saini.
J&K will next play Pondicherry on December 6, and Mumbai on December 13. The matches start at 9:00 AM.
