Srinagar- A complete shutdown was observed in the downtown areas of Srinagar on Thursday against the killing of a local militant in the city’s Rambagh area during a shootout.
Reports said that businesses and shops remained closed in areas falling under the downtown jurisdiction even as the movement of traffic was thin.
The shutdown was observed against the killing of Mehran Yaseen Shalla, one of the militants killed on Wednesday, who was a resident of the NawaKadal area of the city.
After his death, locals took to the streets and raised slogans to protest against the killing.
Meanwhile, the administration has suspended mobile internet services in several places of the city in view of public protests.
