SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir’s senior men’s team on Tuesday lost 3-0 to a formidable Services side in their second match of 75th Santosh Trophy National Football Championship North Zone 2021, being played at Sports Complex, Chandigarh.
In their opening game, the J&K team had drawn 1-1 with hosts Chandigarh.
Tongbram Singh opened score for Services football team in just the 4th minute of the match. Pintu Mahata then doubled the lead in 19th minute. The 3rd and final goal for Services came in the 60th minute through Vivek Kumar.
The J&K team, coached by Satpal Singh, started the match in a 4-5-1 formation, with Nirdosh in goal, Goutam and Arun forming the centre back partnership, Hyder and Faisal playing as fullbacks. Adeel, Arjun and Mehran started as the 3 midfielders. While Mehran and Shakir played as wide midfielders/wingers. Aakif started the match as J&K’s lone striker.
Coach Satpal tried to get his team back in the game by switching to 3 at the back and introducing new attackers after going 3 goals down, but the Services team shut down all attacks.
Services’ central defender, Sunil B, was awarded man of the match.
J&K will next play Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, November 25. The team sits 3rd on the 5-team table with 1 point from 2 games.
