Kargil: Thousands of people joined the funeral prayers for a noted religious figure of Ladakh, Hojjjatul Islam Sheikh Hassan Waizie Hunderman In Kargil on Saturday.
Sheikh Hassan Waizie was Mutawalli Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama Isna Ashriya Kargil (AJUIAK) who passed away after a brief illness at his residence in Poyen Kargil. He was 73.
People from various parts of Kargil converged at the premises of Hawza Ilmiya after the news of his demise spread and his Janaza reached the seminary in a huge mourning procession from Poyen.
The Namaz-e-Janaza was offered by President AJUIAK Shiekh Nazir Mehdi at Inquilab Chowk. Sheikh Waezi was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Hunderman, Kargil.
The Namaz-e-Jinaza was attended by members of AJUIAK, Ulama Council Kargil, Chairman Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Shiekh Sadiq Rajaie, Councilor Town Haji Mohammad Abass, JKNC Kargil president Haji Hanifa Jan, former MLA Asgar Karbalai, political activist Sajjad Kargili besides others.
Sheikh Waizi studied theology at the highest seat of learning in Najaf Ashraf.
