Poonch- Three residents of Mendhar in Poonch district, where Army’s search for militants who killed nine soldiers has exceeded two weeks, were arrested by the police from Kathmandu airport in neighbouring Nepal.
Official sources told a local news agency that the trio were reportedly trying to flee the country on a flight to Saudi Arabia from Kathmandu but were detained before they could have boarded the plane.
Sources said that the police are questioning the trio who are suspected of providing logistics to the militants possibly hiding in dense woods of Nar Khas in Bhata Dhurian village of Poonch.
Meanwhile, police and army on Tuesday also said they have recovered arms and ammunition from the Bhata Durian encounter site during a search operation.
A police official told a local news agency that one AK-47 with 29 rounds and two grenades were recovered by the forces in addition to an assortment of food and clothing items.
The encounter started on October 12. So far only one militant, who was taken from the Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu to the site of the encounter, was killed in a militant ambush, officials claimed.
