ANANTNAG- As a part of the Central Government’s public outreach program of J&K, Union Minister of State for Education, Annpurna Devi visited Martand Sun temple in Anantnag.
Owing to its historical importance being one of the oldest surviving sun temples in the world, the minister passed directions to the district administration to take necessary steps to bring the temple on the tourist map. She said the temple is an important archaeological monument and its tourist potential can boost the local economy of adjoining areas. The officers of the Archaeological Survey of India briefed the Minister about the restoration activities undertaken at the historical site.
The Minister was accompanied by Director Education Kashmir and senior officers of the district administration.
