Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was detained at the Srinagar International Airport on Thursday after security personnel recovered bullets from his luggage.
Head Constable Mohammad Kabir of CRPF96 battalion was apprehended by the airport security personnel on Thursday after seven bullets and five empty cartridges of INSAS rifle were recovered from his baggage at the screening counter near the drop gate, reports said.
Kabir, who was travelling to New Delhi, was handed over to the police post Humhama for further investigations.
This is the third such incident at the airport in less than a month.
On October 7, Head Constable Sham Lal of army’s 79 Brigade was detained in similar circumstances. Prior to that Hawaldar Pawan Singh of army’s 17 Raj Rifles was detained on September 28 after one live round of Insas rifle was recovered from his luggage during screening.
