JAMMU: Secretary, J&K Sports Council on Monday flagged off the J&K Senior Women Hockey team at Jammu Tawi Railways Station to compete in the 11th Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship 2021, set to be held at Jhansi (UP) from October 21 to 30.
Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, while speaking to players said that women are the power of the future of India. She urged the team to perform with discipline and give their best . She asked coaches and players to strictly observe discipline and follow the rules of Hockey India.
President Hockey J&K, Rajeev Sharma thanked the Secretary and said her words will boost the morale of the team and will improve their performance. He added that with her efforts a day will come when J&K will shine like a star in the sky of sports in India. Dr. Taran Singh, General Secretary Hockey J&K was also present on the occasion along with the parents of the players.
The 21 days rigorous training camp of the team concluded recently and was organized by Hockey J&K and supported and sponsored by J&K Sports Council. The training was given in two sessions, morning one began at 6 am to 9 am while evening session at 4 pm to 6 pm daily.
Jagjit Singh, Coach, and Priyanka Singh, Manager will accompany the team comprising of 18 players from the whole of J&K. The team will reach Jhansi on October 19.
