Avengers draw 2-2 with SCFA, F&S draw 1-1 with ARCO
SRINAGAR: Two matches of the JKFA Khyber Premier Division League 2021 were played on Thursday at Synthetic Turf, TRC here.
The first match of the day was played between Kashmir Avengers FC and Sports Council Football Academy (SCFA) which ended in a 2-2 draw. An exciting match up, many fans expected a goal fest and were not disappointed.
Favourites, Kashmir Avengers FC took the lead in the 16th minute through a goal by Kelvin. Ten minutes later, Saqib scored the second goal for the Avengers in the 26th minute. At half time whistle, Kashmir Avengers FC led 2-0 against SCFA.
However, in the second half of the game, a completely rejuvenated JKSC Football Academy team managed to draw level with the Avengers. SCFA pulled one goal back in the 65th minute and then in the 69th minute managed to equalise through Parvez. The match ended 2-2 and Parvez of SCFA XI was named man of the match.
In the second Premier Division match, Food & Supplies XI played a 1-1 draw with ARCO FC. The match up between two equally balanced teams was always going to be a tight affair, and the game lived up to its expectations with end to end drama.
F&S XI took an early lead in the 8th minute of the match. While ARCO created opportunities to score the leveller, the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Food & Supplies.
The second half saw a repeat as F&S astutely defended its lead, while ARCO launched attacks looking for the equaliser. And it came in the dying moments of the match as ARCO’s Nayeem Ahmad found the net in the 89th minute. The match ended 1-1 with Aijaz of F&S XI named man of the match.
Over in A-Division League, two matches were played on Thursday at Gindun Ground, Rajbagh.
In the first match, Madina Sports FC defeated Al-Qudus FC by a solitary goal. While in the second match, Tengpora FC defeated Manzoor Towheed FC by 5 goals to 1.
‘Pele of Kashmir’ KO League
The eighth match of the tournament was played on Wednesday between Kashmir United FC and Safaloo FC. Both the teams played attacking football but failed to convert their chances. The match ended 0-0. The knockout league tournament is being played at Downtown Idgah Playfield in Idgah.
