SRINAGAR: After more than 40 senior cricketers of J&K were selected for the JKCA Senior Team selection camp, the number has almost been halved as the Association’s selectors pick the best of the probables.
More than 20 Kashmir Division cricketers were in the probables and the list has been slashed after 10 cricketers failed to make the cut. 11 cricketers from Kashmir Division, however, have made it to the next round of selections, including J&K captain Parvez Rasool.
Here are the cricketers from Kashmir who made it to the final rounds of selection:
Parvez Rasool, Manzoor Dar, Waseem Raza, Qamran Iqbal, Umer Nazir, Mujteba Yousuf, Irfan Ul Haq, Rasikh Salam, Mudasir, Towqeer and Auqib Nabi.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir Division players who have been sent back home:
Nasir Lone, Shabir Nengroo, Mehjoor Sofi, Fasil Dar, Usman Pandith, Umar Nisar, Usman Pandith, Tahir Bhat, Ahmad Banday, Jiyad Magray and Zaid Mohammed Bhat.
While the social media is abuzz with fan opinions about the selections, it will be interesting to see what the JKCA senior men’s team cut.
The men’s team will start the Domestic Season 2021-22 with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Trophy, which is set to commence from October 27.
