Srinagar: A soldier was taken into custody at the Srinagar International Airport on Thursday after security personnel recovered a bullet from his baggage.
Head Constable Sham Lal, who is currently posted at 79 Brigade Baramulla, was detained by the airport security personnel on Thursday after a live round of INSAS rifle was recovered from his baggage at the screening counter near the drop gate, reports said. A resident of Akhnoor in Jammu, Lal was taken into custody for questioning.
According to the reports, the detained soldier was later handed over to the police post Humhama.
Pertinently, this is the second such incident at the airport in the last nine days.
On September 28, Hawaldar Pawan Singh of Army’s 17 Raj Rifles was detained by the security personnel at the police post Humhama on Tuesday after one live round of Insas rifle was recovered from him during baggage screening.
