SRINAGAR: Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Sports and Home Affairs, Nishit Pramanik on Wednesday interacted with the officers of Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel Srinagar and later attended the finals of Inter Zonal Competitions at Amar Singh College here.
Minister Pramanik is on a 4-day visit to Kashmir under the central government’s public outreach programme, chaired a meeting of DYSS officers and officials in which Director DYSS J&K, Gazanfar Ali gave a detailed presentation regarding the programmes and achievements of the department so far.
The meeting was attended by Farooq Khan, Advisor to LG, Principal Secretary to Govt. DYSS, Alok Kumar, Special Secretary to Govt., M.A. Bhat, Secretary JK Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, Joint Director Kashmir DYSS, Bashir Ahmad, Principal Government College Of Physical Education College Ganderbal, Dr. Hartej Singh, besides all District DYSS officers of Kashmir division.
The Union MoS also visited the recently established shooting hall at Youth Hostel where he interacted with student trainees undergoing basic training in the discipline of Shooting. The Minister assured and also passed on instructions to sponsor 5 student trainees to undergo advanced training in Shooting at New Delhi.
Later, N Pramanik visited Amar Singh College Srinagar to witness the closing ceremony and final matches of Inter Zonal District level competitions. A Khelo India Pledge was imparted to the student in presence of the MoS and other officers of the UT administration.
Colourful cultural programmes were also held during the occasion.
While addressing the gathering he encouraged the students to participate in games and sports to make their lives active and productive. He further highlighted the sports related initiatives of GOI under Khelo India and Fit India Mission.
The Minister also gave away trophies and awards to the winning teams of the tournament. He also gave away sports kits to Zonal Physical Education offices of District Srinagar.
Felicitates Pencak Silat Medallists
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Sports and Home Affairs, Nisith Pramanik on Wednesday felicitated Pencak Silat medallists during the ongoing 3-Day 6th State Level Pencak Silat Championship 2021 which is being held at Indoor Stadium, Polo Ground, here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that such events not only promote sports but also a spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood among the athletes coming from different districts and states.
The Minister witnessed a demonstration of Pencak Silat displayed by some National and International athletes. He also interacted with different participants who had come from over 16 districts across the Union Territory of J&K, including a Central team of J&K Police.
Principal Secretary DYSS, Alok Kumar, Director DYSS, Special Secretary, DYSS and officials of the Pencak Silat Association of J&K were present on the occasion.
