Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir continues to see a spike in coronavirus cases as 156 more people on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19, while the virus also claimed another life in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, 124 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported from Kashmir Valley and the remaining 32 were detected from the winter capital, taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic last year in J&K to 327296.
Giving the district-wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 77 cases, Budgam 12, Baramulla 10, Ganderbal 6, Pulwama, Bandipora and Anantnag 5 each, Kupwara 3 and Kulgam 1 new case of Covid-19. No fresh case of coronavirus was reported from south Kashmir’s Shopian district for the second straight day.
Similarly, Jammu district reported 10, Reasi 8, , Doda 6, Rajouri 4, Kishtwar 2, and Poonch and Ramban 1 each new case of virus. Three districts of Udhampur, Kathua and Samba reported no fresh case of virus.
Moreover, officials said, 131 more Covid patients have recovered—32 from Jammu and 99 from Kashmir.
Also, officials said, the virus claimed one more life in Jammu division, thus taking the overall fatality count in J&K to 4415— 2169 in Jammu division and 2246 in Kashmir.
There was one fresh confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today, they said. So far 46 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials added.
