Srinagar: An army Major succumbed to his wounds on Saturday, a fortnight after he was injured due to a “misfire” from his own rifle in a camp in south Kashmir.
According to police Major Mayank Vishnoi of 44 RR Camp was injured due to miss fire from his own service rifle on August 27 at army camp in Shopian. He was given first aid at MI room and shifted to 92 base Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment where from he was shifted to Command Hospital Udhampur for further treatment, police said.
“Reportedly the Major has expired today in the Hospital at Udhampur,” GNS quoting a police official said. The police have sought a postmortem report, the official added. (GNS)
