SRINAGAR: Rakhshinda Mehak and Vishal Khajuria, Judoka duo from Jammu and Kashmir, have made it to the final six-member Indian team selected for the World Deaf Judo Championship all set to be held at Versailles in France from October 27 to October 30.
While Rakhshinda has been selected in the women’s 78 kg category, Vishal has made it to the final list in men’s 66 kg.
The selection trials for the Indian Deaf Judo team were held at Emerald Heights International School Indore, and was hosted by Madhya Pradesh Deaf Sports Society (MPDSS) on Tuesday.
“The selection was made considering the performance in the previous National Championships. Two players each in men and women categories from J&K participated in the selection trials under the supervision and guidance of Suraj Bhan Singh, Judo Coach, J&K Sports Council who was also head of the selection committee,” the JKSC said in a statement.
“Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull while applauding the performance of J&K Judoka duo in trials, congratulated both the players for their selection and complimented the coach, Suraj Bhan Singh,” the statement added.
The other selected members of the contingent include Divya Tiwari (UP) Nirchara (HR), Aaman Khan (UP) and Sumit Soni (Punjab).
