Cristiano Ronaldo’s second Manchester United debut has been a matter of speculation ever since the forward’s signing was announced.
The 36-year-old Portugal international signed a two-year deal with an option to extend in August, and United fans across the globe have been waiting for CR7 to don the famous red and white uniform, and walk out on to the Old Trafford ground once again.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has already retaken his preferred number 7 jersey from Edinson Cavani, who in turn will wear number 21 this season.
While United’s social media accounts are abuzz after Ronaldo was pictured with coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Carrington, fans are wondering when the talismanic forward will feature in the Premier League.
Various reports have revealed that Ronaldo trained with his Manchester United teammates today, making it all the more plausible that CR7 will mark his second homecoming this Saturday against Newcastle United.
Some reports have also suggested that Ronaldo might start from the bench, but considering his goal-scoring exploits for Portugal in the World Cup qualifiers this week, it is likely that he will be named in the starting XI.
While the news has left many Red Devils jumping in joy and anticipation, CR7’s reintroduction to the English Premier League will spell trouble for United’s opponents.
Manchester United will play Newcastle United on Saturday, September 11, with kick-off at 7:30 pm (IST).
