Srinagar: Unidentified militants on Wednesday attacked a police post with a grenade in Sherbagh area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag town.
Unknown militants lobbed a grenade and fired several rounds towards police post in Sherbagh area of the main town on Wednesday evening, reports said. However, no reports of loss of life or property were received in the militant attack.
According to reports, the surprise militant attack triggered panic in the area, prompting the traders to down their shutter. Many passerby, reports said, ran helter skelter fearing outbreak of an encounter in the area.
According to reports, additional reinforcements of police and CRPF rushed to the spot and launched a cordon and search operation to nab the attackers.
