Srinagar: The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has called for a meeting on August 24 to discuss and deliberate on the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting has been called at the residence of the amalgam’s President and National Conference chief Dr Farooq Abdullah, a local news agency KNS reported Friday.
The report said that the constituents of the PAGD have been asked to also bring their senior-most leaders to the meeting.
PAGD spokesperson, MY Tarigami said that a meeting has been called on August 24 to discuss the prevailing situation.
He, however, refused to divulge in further details.
One being asked whether this is going to be a convention, he said that this is a simple meeting called to discuss the current situation.
Notably, PAGD last met on August 04 at Farooq Abdullah’s residence, wherein it was decided that the next meeting will be held on August 24.
The PAGD is an alliance of mainstream parties — National Conference, Peoples’ Democratic Party, CPM, Awami National Conference and Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement — that was cobbled after the Centre abrogated the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019 and divided it into two union territories (UTs).
