Srinagar: A massive tricolour will be hoisted on iconic Afghan era fort atop Srinagar’s Koh-i-Maran in the heart of downtown Srinagar. The flag, according to officials, will be 24 feet x 36 feet.
The construction of a base to host the flag began earlier this month and the flag will be officially unfurled by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday.
The mast measuring 100 feet for the flag had been brought from Delhi and weighs six tonnes.
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir had its own flag and constitution before the former state was divided into two Union Territories and its special status was abrogated.
Earlier, army unfurled 100 – feet high tricolour at the tourist resort of Gulmarg.
