Awantipora: To commemorate World Breastfeeding Week, Nursing Colleges of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) organized a weeklong programme on importance of breastfeeding from 2-7 August with the special focus of this year’s theme ‘Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility’.
During the programme held at Alamdaar College of Nursing and Medical Technology of IUST, Principal of the college, Prof Mehmooda Regu highlighted the empowerment of mothers to get the environment for continuous breastfeeding which would help to achieve the targets of the health indicators. The programme was held under the supervision of faculty members of the said college during which the students of B.Sc. Nursing were educated about various aspects of breastfeeding techniques.
During the programme held at Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology in collaboration with MCH Anantnag and SKIMS Medical College, series of activities were held highlighting the importance and techniques of breast feeding with special reference to breastfeeding during Covid’19. The programme was initiated by Principal of the college Asmat Parveen during which faculty members highlighted the links between breastfeeding and survival, health and wellbeing of women, children and nations. Queries were also answered during post teaching session.
