Apart from accolades, former chief minister’s TV interview “based on numbers” created a virtual hilarity.

COMING on the second anniversary of the Article 370 abrogation, the ex-chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir’s interview has become the talk of the town as well as the online amusement.
In a TV talk with Times Now’s Navika Kumar, Omar Abdullah can be seen ‘arguing with numbers’ on the post-abrogation development scenario of Jammu and Kashmir.

Apart from creating cheerleading response, the short clip of the interview where Omar is quoting figures sparked a meme-fest online.

Driven by some sarcastic Bollywood morphed scenes, the twitterati came up with the flurry of memes to describe the “showdown”. The anchor was even portrayed as a crying child wanting to escape the situation.

This was Omar Abdullah’s first interview with Times Now after many years. And coming on the eve of the second anniversary of the abrogation of J&K’s semiautonomous status made many netizens term it a “fitting response.”

The online spoof triggered by Abdullah’s ‘prepared mind’ was based on the wide range of reactions and emotions — the language now driving the virtual interaction and engagement.

The meme-fest was ably capitalized by the adherents of Kashmir’s grand old party — some of whom even calling it “a mirror to Naya Kashmir mirage”.

But major reactions were directed towards the anchor known for her apparent slant and ‘showwomanship’. Kumar is known for dominating the high-pitched primetime debates.

However, those who understand Omar Abdullah’s tryst with the channel did join some old dots when a certain “screaming” anchor—now face of Republic—would scrutinize the then chief minister Omar Abdullah’s power stint during his primetime shows. The NC leader’s response, in this backdrop, was seen as his “resounding comeback”.

But for Omar’s and his party supporters, the terse talk was one the rear occasions in “Naya Kashmir”—bringing some smiles, sarcasm and satisfaction to the camp.
