SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council on Wednesday organised ‘#Cheer4India’ events in Srinagar and Jammu in order to show support to the Indian contingent participating in Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
In Srinagar, a function was held at Indoor Sports Complex, Polo Ground where Olympic t-shirts were distributed among prominent players, coaches and officials by Nuzhat Farooq, Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir.
In Jammu, the JKSC hosted a similar function at MA Stadium. Secretary, JKSC, Nuzhat Gul, presided over the function as Chief Guest. She expressed her best wishes to athletes representing India at the Olympic Games.
She appreciated the role of officers and officials of J&K Sports Council Jammu who also attended the function to extend their support to Indian athletes and prayed for their best performance.
Nuzhat Gul also congratulated Chanu Saikhom Mirabai for winning the Silver Medal.
In Srinagar, the participants also paid glowing tributes to the silver medallist Mirabai Chanu by giving a standing ovation. Muhammad Iqbal, Sheikh Irfan and Adil Haqani from CDK, J&K Sports Council besides coaches of various games and many officials including staff members of the J&K Sports Council were present on the occasion.
