THIS is in response to an article published in Kashmir Observer on July 16 titled, “The Dire Dearth”. The article has highlighted the plight of women who are asked to get an ECG done from male technicians. This is like a nightmare for women.
I myself went to Sub District Hospital Nagam with my pregnant wife on 18-06-2021
The doctor advised an ECG. However, I found it very unfortunate when a male technician asked my wife to take off her clothes for the procedure following which, she refused to get it done.
It was not only my wife but many other women, especially young girls, who returned without an ECG because of the non-availability of female ECG technicians. Authorities have looked the other way instead of making health care safe and accommodating for women. Hope Kashmir Observer’s efforts in highlighting the issue are addressed urgently and this issue is resolved.
