Srinagar: A District Development Member from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district who was booked and arrested for allegedly thrashing senior revenue officials on July 3, was granted bail on Saturday.
He was booked under an FIR under section 307, 353, 392 IPC at police station Bandipora over the complaint of the ‘manhandled’ Tehsildar. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated, he added.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora Mohammad Ibrahim Wani granted an interim bail to the accused- Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Rather –DDC member Arin, on a personal bail bond of Rs 50,000.
The accused through his counsel-advocate Abdul Rashid Khan approached the court of Principal District and Sessions Judge for grant of bail after it was rejected by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Pertinently on July 13, Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) rejected Rather’s bail plea on the grounds that the investigation of the case was at infancy and admitting accused to bail would derail the investigation of the case.
