Premier UT League
SRINAGAR: J&K Bank XI, Kashmir Avengers FC, Dar Sports Kupwara and Ferrari Lions Ganderbal have all qualified from the Kashmir division for the 3rd phase of the Premier UT League 2021.
The four football clubs qualified for the 3rd Phase on Thursday, July 8. Meanwhile on Friday, SWFC Baramulla defeated Khudwani Quimoh FC by 7 goals to nil on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday two matches were played at the Synthetic Turf Ground TRC in Srinagar. In the first match Dar Sports defeated Etihad FC by 3 goals to 2 to qualify, while the second match between Ferrari Lions and Shopian FC ended as a goalless draw. Ferrari Lions qualified for the 3rd phase of the UT League on the basis of their earlier win against Shopian FC.
The Premier UT League is organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council in collaboration with the JKFA. The 3rd phase will see 8 teams, 4 teams each from Jammu and Kashmir provinces, lock horns with each other.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, a JKFA official said that he was pessimistic about the 3rd Phase taking place any time soon.
“The 2nd Phase hasn’t even started in Jammu. Many teams from different districts of Jammu have been left out. I think we might see the 3rd Phase happening after at least 5 to 6 months,” the official said.
