SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Thursday conducted a day-long COVID-19 vaccination drive at Srinagar’s Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
Professional cricketers including Abid Nabi, Obaid Haroon, Javid Jadu and Waseem Kachru were vaccinated on the occasion along with other budding and experienced cricket players of the Valley. The event took place at JKCA’s Srinagar headquarters which also servers as JKCA’s Srinagar Incharge, Majid Dar’s office.
The drive comes after a BCCI directive that made it mandatory for all 18 + cricketers (men and women) to get vaccinated. Earlier, JKCA had issued a notice saying only vaccinated cricketers and staff members will be permitted to enter its facilities.
Meanwhile, JKCA’s Jammu wing released a statement on Thursday saying a similar COVID-19 vaccination drive will be conducted in Jammu on July 3.
“With active participation of DC Jammu and the Health Department, JKCA will conduct a special vaccination drive for 18+ cricketers, employees and their family members on July 3 at JKCA office near Science College Stadium from 10.30 am onwards,” the statement said.
JKCA sub-committee member, Brigadier Anil Gupta appealed to all budding cricketers to avail the opportunity so that cricketing activities can resume in UT without violating any COVID protocol.
