Srinagar: A teenage girl from Uttar Pradesh died while attempting to click a selfie in the tourist resort of Doodhpathri in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
14-year-old Arohi Morya and her 26-year-old sister Anmol, daughters of Ramesh Singh from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow city slipped into Shali Ganga stream on Monday while taking selfies, a police officer told Kashmir Observer.
While Anmol was rescued by the police and locals in injured condition and rushed to the hospital in Khansahib for treatment, her sister Arohi could not make it out alive from the gushing waters.
“Unfortunately, one of the two sisters died of drowning while the second one was rescued by the timely action of police and locals. She was shifted to Khansahib hospital and later SMHS hospital for treatment,” the officer added.
The women, he said, were on a day visit to the famous tourist resort with their family.
