Srinagar: As many as 43 more people, including a non-local, succumbed to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday while 3848 new cases of virus were detected across the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
In Jammu division, 27 more people died of coronavirus on Friday while in Kashmir Valley 16 people succumbed to the deadly infection at the various healthcare facilities, taking the death toll since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K last year to 3465, officials said.
A 33-year-old man from Bhagalpur, Bihar, who was residing at Sonwar here, died at SMHS hospital, a week after he was admitted there, officials said. Besides him, Shiv Sena Hindustan’s provisional president from Chadoora Budgam, at present Lal Mandi Srinagar, also died at SMHS hospital, a fortnight after he was admitted there for treatment, they said.
Also, an 86-year-old woman from Nawabazar Srinagar also died a day after she was admitted to the hospital, officials said. Two deaths were reported at GMC Anantnag, they added. A 70-year-old man from Habbak died, eight days after he was admitted to SKIMS Soura.
A 50-year-old woman from Sopore died four days she was admitted to the tertiary care hospital, they said.
A 59-year-old woman from Tral died a day after she was a admitted to SKIMS Bemina, they said.
Meanwhile, 2406 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported from Kashmir Valley and 1442 from Jammu division on Friday thus taking the total number of infected people to 263905.
Giving district wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 598, Baramulla 320, Budgam 344, Pulwama 224, Kupwara 204, Anantnag 303, Bandipora 105, Ganderbal 125, Kulgam 121, Shopian 62, Jammu 401, Udhampur 160, Rajouri 155, Doda 58, Kathua 130, Samba 163, Kishtwar 30, Poonch 48, Ramban 201and Reasi 96 new cases of Covid-19.
Also, they said, 2736 people have recovered—1730 in Jammu division and 2736 in Kashmir. There are now 49893 active positive cases—20601 in Jammu division and 29292 in Kashmir, they added.
