Srinagar– Former vice-chancellor of Kashmir University Riyaz Punjabi’s wife Dr Tarannum Riyaz Thursday died of Covid-19 in a Delhi hospital. Her husband Prof Riyaz Punjabi also died of Covid in April in a Delhi hospital recently.
Reports said that Dr Tarannum Riyaz, a noted Urdu fiction writer and wife of former Kashmir University Vice Chancellor, Riyaz Punjabi, had been admitted in Delhi hospital after she was tested positive for Covid-19. She was on ventilator from past few days.
They said that Dr Tarannum breathed her last early Thursday hours.
Dr Tarannum, who was a native of Srinagar, was an acclaimed Urdu fiction writer and critic and a former newscaster with the All India Radio.
She was holding a degree in PhD in Education and Masters in Urdu and was awarded with the SAARC Literature Award in 2014.
Her husband, Riyaz Punjabi had passed away in New Delhi last month due to Covid-19. (KNT)
