SRINAGAR: J&K Ittehadul Muslimeen (JKIM) chief patron Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari has strongly condemned the arrest of twenty Kashmiri youth, religious preacher Sarjan Barkati and a professional artist Mudasir Gul for expressing solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.
In a statement issued here, ex Hurriyat chairman said that they were only expressing their feelings and nowhere in the world is expressing solidarity with a subjugated people a crime that warrants arrest under draconian laws!
“Freedom of expression is a basic human right, but it has been hijacked by the police in Kashmir in the name of peace,” Maulana said.
He further stated that praying for the well-being of the oppressed nations in the valley has become a crime which is against human, moral and democratic principles.
JKIM patron demanded immediate repeal of black laws imposed on the youth of Moti Mohalla Dal, religious preacher Sarjan Barkati and professional artist Mudassar Gul and said that such black laws could not suppress the Islamic and moral sentiments of Kashmiri people.
