Srinagar: A day after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha set a 10-day deadline for 100% vaccination of people above 45 years in Jammu and Kashmir, not a single person received vaccine jabs in Kashmir Valley while 9000 people were vaccinated in the winter capital on Sunday.
According to official data pertaining to the vaccination drive across the Union Territory, not a single person above 45 years in Kashmir Valley was on Sunday administered vaccine jabs due to the reasons best known to the health department. However, in Jammu division, 8750 people above 45 years received vaccine jabs.
Giving district wise break up of vaccination on Sunday, the official data says that in Jammu district 3093 people, in Udhampur 1157, in Rajouri 986, in Kathua 40, in Poonch 661, in Ramban 887, in Doda 731, in Kishtwar 360, in Reasi 524 and in Samba district 311 people above 45 years received vaccine jabs.
The official date further says that till Sunday, 2,814,272 doses of vaccine have been administered in the Union Territory. Among them, Kashmir division has received 1,335,954 vaccine shots and Jammu division 1,478,318 jabs of Covishield and Covaxin.
Pertinently, on Saturday J&K LG had set the timeline of 10-days for achieving the target of 100% vaccination of the above 45 years age group with the first dose of Covid vaccine. He announced this decision during a series of meetings with the members of Covid Task Force and Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and other concerned officers of the Union Territory.
