50 More People Succumbed To Virus, Toll Cross 2600 Mark
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded on Friday the highest ever single day spike of 5443 coronavirus cases, while fifty more people succumbed to the virus across the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, 29 more people succumbed to coronavirus in Jammu division while 21 others died of Covid-19 related complications in Kashmir Valley on Friday, raising the total number of fatalities since the outbreak of pandemic last year to 2612
Among the victims, officials said, included a 61-year-old man from Dalgate, who died 12 days after he was admitted to SMHS hospital. A 78-year-old man from Anantnag, died at CD hospital, four days after he was admitted to one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients in the Valley.
A 70-year-old man died at GMC Anantnag, three days after he was admitted there, while a 60-year-old man from Nai Basti died within a few hours of his admission to GMC, they said.
A 70-year-old man from S K Colony Anantnag died three days after he was admitted to GMC Anantnag. A 72-year-old man from Janglat Mandi Anantnag died two days after he was admitted to the facility, they said.
A 55-year-old woman from Boniyar Baramulla died due to cardiopulmonary arrest while suffering from severe Covid Pneumonia with HTN with T2DM, they said.
The other victims include an 80-year-old from Pulwama, a 68-year-old man from Makhdoom Sahib Srinagar, a 70-year-old man from Pulwama, an 80-year-old woman from Tral, A 68-year-old man from Mallabagh Srinagar, A 65-year-old from Illahibagh Srinagar, 80-year-old man from Safapora Ganderbal, a 60-year-old man from Illahi-Bagh, and a septuagenarian man from Sumbal Bandipora.
About the new cases of infection, officials said, 1,868 were reported from the Jammu division and 3,575 from the Kashmir division thus taking the total number of infected people in the union territory to 206954.
Giving district wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 1071, Baramulla 496, Budgam 384, Pulwama 118, Kupwara 198, Anantnag 568, Bandipora 93, Ganderbal 169, Kulgam 344, Shopian 134, Jammu 639, Udhampur 292, Rajouri 300, Doda 37, Kathua 226, Samba 121, Kishtwar 39, Poonch 95Ramban 67 and Reasi 52 fresh cases of coronavirus.
Moreover, officials said 2752 more COVID-19 patients have recovered—954 from Jammu Division and 1798 from Kashmir. There are at present 44307 active positive cases—15571 in Kashmir and 28736 in Jammu, they added. (With GNS inputs)
